LONG, BARBARA LILY MAY
LONG, Barbara Lily May (nee Ryerse) of Port Dover, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side, on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Norfolk General Hospital in her 86th year. Cherished wife of Walter. Dearly loved mother and mother-in-law of Doug and Brenda of Port Dover, Brad and Sheryl of Toronto and Connie MacArthur of Port Dover. Loving grandmother of Richard (Carrie Jo), Eric (Jen), Laird, Averil (Greg), Angela, Hannah, Grace, Stella and Daniel and great- grandmother of Lily Anne, Noah, Macy and Charlie. Dear sister-in-law of Merritt and Arlene Long of Toronto, Maurice and Theresa Long of Brantford and Joyce and Vic Vokes of Simcoe. Will be sadly missed by her son-in-law Barry and nieces Elsa and Frances. Predeceased by her parents Clinton and Pansy Ryerse, brother Richard, sister Ruth May and her husband Otto. Barb was active in the community, she was a member of St. Paul's Club and St. Paul's Anglican Church, and the Stitch & Bitch Club, Barb along with her co-coordinator Jane Booth organized and ran the Lion's Antique Show for many years. She was awarded the prestigious Melvyn Jones Award by the Lions Club for her dedication. Friends are invited to meet with the family for memorial visitation on Thursday, October 25, 2012 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm at THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME, 102 First Ave., Port Dover 519-583-1530. A Memorial Service of Celebration and Remembrance of Barb's life will be held Friday, October 26, 2012 at 11 am at St. Paul's Anglican Church (Market and St. George Sts.) Port Dover. Father Kendall Reimer officiating. Interment Port Dover Cemetery.
