Obituary of DOUGLAS PORTER

PORTER, DOUGLAS MILTON PORTER, Douglas Milton of Port Dover passed away at Dover Cliffs Long Term Care on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 in his 87th year. Beloved husband and best friend to Marjorie (Field) for 64 years. Cherished father and father-in-law of Carol, Rick, Cathy (Don Maxwell), Delos (Laura) and Diane. Proud and loving grandfather of Brennan (Heather), Nathan (Katie) and Josh Maxwell, Tasha (Phil Dragstra), Nick, Stacey and Stephanie Porter, great-grandfather of Robbie Maxwell. Doug will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son David, parents Milton and Nora (Hellyer), brother, Neil and his wife (Hazel) and sister Jean. He was a long time friend of the late Bill and Dorothy Barker. Doug was a lifelong farmer and lumberman, and together with his brother Neil, built the Dover Dairy Bar. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Simcoe for almost 60 years. Friends are invited to meet with the family to share their memories of Doug on Friday, June 14, 2013, 2pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm at THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME, 102 First Ave., Port Dover 519-583-1530. A Service to Celebrate Doug's life will be held Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 1 pm in the funeral home Chapel. Chaplain Heather MacPherson officiating. Interment Port Dover Cemetery.
