Johnson, Elizabeth "Betty"
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth "Betty" Johnson (nee Alcorn) on December 10, 2018 in her 89th year. She is survived by her loving husband Gordon "Grumps" Johnson of 64 years and her children Richard (Pat), Susan (Ian), Tammie (Bruce) and Joey (Jill). She leaves 8 grandchildren Nicole, Sarah, Skylar, Jori, Kody, Ashley, Brooke, and Spencer.
Betty was born and raised in Montreal and moved to Port Dover to marry and raise a family with her husband Gordon. Together they raised four children and numerous pets and were great supporters of the Town of Port Dover. Betty was an active community member through her numerous volunteer and charitable works. But her family was her true joy and calling. Her family extended to her children's friends and there was always room at the table for one more or on the annual family vacations to Myrtle Beach.
She loved watching sports with Gord; especially her beloved Blue Jays and her home town Montreal Alouettes and she had a competitive streak when it came to playing cards and numerous board games with family and friends. She was a great card player and had the ability to keep her husband Gord under control when he was explaining the rules of the various games that they were playing. Together they hosted the best Grey Cup parties for many years in South West Ontario.
Betty was a true mother and grandmother and was loved as a mother-in-law. She loved family gatherings and Birthdays of which there were many. She valued friendships, conversation, and above all family. She had the ability to connect with everyone.
