Gram you were one amazing woman. I will so dearly miss your stories, the way you stuck out your tongue at certain things with your face elongated and glasses on the end of your nose, the green tomato jam that you always got in the summer from a yard sale in the neighbourhood and though most talk about the cookie pot in the cupboard by the sink, I remember more the slices of ice cream served on the spotted melmac plates! I also remember being surprised to see you drink a beer after your husband Curly's funeral -- whom you always stayed true to, despite his passing in 1980, as far as I know you never dated, etc. Your work involvement in the Rebekahs and helping those in need with medical aids/equipment, etc. I will never forget when we planned the surprised birthday party (75, I think) for you, and when you walked in the hall, we yelled 'surprise' and you trying to back out the door!!! If it weren't for the friends that brought you to the party, you probably would have turned around and walked out! You were an inspiration to all of us, and will always be in our hearts!!!

Grandma you were so much a part of my life when I was growing up. Every other weekend you got the pleasure of listening to my sister's and I fight, tear through your house like a tornado, and raid your cookie jar on the bottom shelf of your cupboard. You lived a long life and I imagine you must have been getting tired. R.I.P. Grandma. See you in Heaven.

My favourite memories:
1) In 1983 or so, we’d just arrived in Dover having driven overnight from Nova Scotia. We pull into the familiar driveway. I jump out of the car and run to the front door. There appeared a nice white haired lady greeting me at the door. I froze. I forget who explained to me that this was still my grandmother even though she no longer had red hair, but I remember her being very understanding.
2) 1985 or so, she’d spent that Christmas with us in Windsor. She and I were taking a greyhound bus back to Dover. I’d gotten bus sick.. we arrive at her house and unfazed she changed me out of my pants, washed them, then hung them on the line. The pants were frozen solid. I’d never seen frozen pants before. I’m not sure who was more tickled - me by the frozen pants or her reaction to my reaction over the frozen pants.
