Obituary of Christine Ivey

IVEY, Christine Myrtle (July 13, 1940 - Oct. 24, 2023), beloved daughter of Christie and Myrtle (Gamble) Grace, predeceased by her siblings Imogen Givens and John O'Hurley and her husband Charles Ivey, and survived by her brothers Terry Grace and Gary Grace; cherished partner to John Baker and mother to Thomas Ivey (Sharon) Sarah Ivey (Naoki), and Peter Ivey (Alisha); grandmother to Hanako. Christine was a schoolteacher and board trustee in Norfolk County, an entrepreneur who ran her own bed and breakfast with her partner John in Port Dover and was a dedicated friend and mother. At various times, Christine was active in the Norfolk Horticultural Society, the Lighthouse Theater, and helped start Art in the Park; as well, she and John enjoyed socializing with fellow members of the Port Dover Yacht Club. Along with boating, Christine loved needlepoint and reading, and was an avid bridge player. She enriched the lives of her children through her love of travel, the arts, and life-long learning. With her partner John she journeyed across Europe and the UK and gathered wonderful memories along the way which they also shared with good friends and family. She will be missed by her loved ones and will be remembered by many with aching hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Norfolk Haldimand Community Hospice.
