Obituary of Alex Kannawin

Passed away peacefully in the early hours of Wednesday November 1, 2023. Predeceased by his first wife Rosemary (2010) and his second wife Patricia Shortt-Kannawin (2021). Alexander will be sadly missed by his children William (Diane), Barry (Susan), and Teresa (John) Gallea. Cherished grandfather to many grandchildren. Loving Great-grandfather to several great-grandchildren.  Alexander leaves behind his sisters Nellie (Doug) Matthews and Judy Anderson. He will be fondly remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Alexander was a devoted member at St. Cecilia’s Church and the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He was a Chartered Grand Knight of Port Dover and member of the PTA. He loved Hockey and was a valued Juvenile Hockey Sponsor for many years. In 1971, Alexander opened Alex Auto Body, where he proudly served the residents of Port Dover for 25 years. Later in 1980’s, he and his beloved wife Rosemary opened a store together in Simcoe called Crafty Hobbies and Toys too.  The family invites you to join them for visitation at Thompson Waters Funeral Home, 102 First Ave. Port Dover (519)583-1530 on Monday November 6, 2023 from 6-8pm. A Catholic Mass will be held on Tuesday November 7, 2023 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Port Dover at 11:00 a.m. For those wishing, donations can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
