Obituary of Mary Sywak

SYWAK, Mary (nee Procyk), passed away peacefully at Parkview Meadows LTC on Thursday July 4, 2024 in her 95th year. Predeceased by her husband Steve (2001). Cherished mother of Gary (Carla) of Port Dover, Cheryl (Brian) Zuk of Port Dover, Steve and (Marni) of Marrietta, Georgia and Anne (Dave) Thomson of Waterford. Loving Baba of Michael (Caitlin), Nancy (Valiant), Shaun (Sarah), Quinn and (Charlene), Austin, Stephen (Karen) and Darryl and Michelle. Dear great-Baba of Ellie, Jace, Ethan, Abbi, Emma, Jackson, Braydon, Alex and Lauren. Dearly loved sister of James Procyk of Brantford. Fondly remembered by her sister-in-law and brothers-in-law Lily and Marcel Trost and Steve Nyitray and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Michael and Pauline, brother Bill Procyk and his wife Annie, sisters-in-law Lena Procyk and Emily Nyitray. Mary was born in the Ukraine and immigrated to Canada when she was 10 years old. She married her beloved husband Steve in 1954. Mary operated her beauty salon at her home for many years. She was a faithful member of the Ukrainian Sacred Heart Church in Waterford where she was a member of the choir and CWL. Family was always her first priority, especially her grandchildren who always referred to her as "Bobs". Mary was a kind and generous spirit who always had a smile for everyone. She will be missed by all who knew her.  Friends are invited to meet with family to share their memories of Mary on Tuesday July 9th from 5pm to 8pm. at THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME 102 First Ave. Port Dover 519-583-1530 A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Wednesday July 10, 2024 at St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church Lynn Park Road at 11 am. Father Charles Akinloye Celebrant. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery Waterford.
