Obituary of Luigi Tassone
TASSONE, Luigi, known by his friends and family as Lou or Louie, of Port Dover, passed away peacefully at Stedman Community Hospice in Brantford, on Friday, August 2, 2024 surrounded by the love of his family, in his 76th year. Cherished husband and best friend of Dawn for 49 years. Loving father of Christopher (Porsia) and Paul (Marianna). Proud grandfather of Landyn.
Dear and beloved brother of Bill (Lina) Ralph (Rosemary), Rosina (Vincenzo), and Viola (Don).
He is reunited in heaven with his parents Rosario and Raffaela, his brother Giuseppe (Pina) and his sister Antonietta (Nicola).
He will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Lou was a hands-on dad, always present and active in the boys' sports growing up. For many years, he coached soccer and instilled invaluable words and values to live by, not only to his sons Paul and Chris but all he coached.
He was a sports fan, loved playing pool, enjoyed a good cigar and glass of wine (or two).
He loved to travel with his wife, family and friends; his favourite place was the Dominican Republic.
An avid gardener who loved being outdoors, enjoying the sunshine and warm weather, he could be found tending to his vegetable garden or sunbathing in a recliner, often with a good book.
A simple man with strong family values and beliefs.
His greatest treasure was spending time with his family, especially if it included time with Landyn, his beloved grandson.
Behind his strong no-nonsense personality was a gentle and sensitive man. Often referred to as Sweet Lou, he was friendly and hospitable.
In keeping with Lou's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
A special thank you to all the staff at Stedman Community Hospice who attentively cared for him until the very end.
Arrangements entrusted to THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME, Port Dover 519-583-1530. In lieu of flowers, for those wishing, donations to Stedman Community Hospice would be greatly appreciated. On-line donations and/or condolences can be made at www.thompsonwatersfuneralhome.ca
