So sorry to hear of Joy's passing. I have known the family ever since I was a young child. Riding in their outdoor riding pen always brought me great joy with Joy watching me ride. She will be sadly missed by our family, and I will be forever grateful for the time we got to spend together sharing our love of horses and life in general. Fondly and lovingly remembered always;
Kim, Lloyd, Donalda Shepherd and family.

Aunt Joy was an example of strength, stamina and willpower. She survived circumstances beyond her control and never failed to put a smile on her face. She met life head-on and adapted well adjusting her attitude to make life easier in her new surroundings. Joy made the best of things. Each time I visited her in Norview or Rosewood she assured me she was in the best possible place.
When Joy and Bill were married in Ottawa, my sister Terry and myself were invited to the wedding along with our mom and dad. I'll never forget how lovely Joy looked and how happy she was. They had chocolate covered strawberries which enchanted my sister and I, we'd never in our young lives seen such a delicious delicacy and she told us we could take more than one. Bonus indeed!
She also took my sister and I on our first train ride from Ottawa to Montreal to visit our Aunt Ann who lived in Pointe Claire. She had quite a bit of patience with us, probably not easy for her as I know we kept asking how much longer it would take to get there.
Joy had a fabulous memory, it was astounding how she recalled dates, places and times. She favoured her mother Muriel in that respect.
I certainly will miss her. She lived a long life exemplifying dignity and determination. She is home now, safe and sound.

My deepest condolences Will on the passing of your dear mom. I remember meeting her with you many years ago and she was such a lovely lady. May you always cherish the special memories of her in the years ahead. She lived a great life indeed. May you find the strength you need to help you through the difficult days ahead. God bless always.
