Obituary of John Edward Booth
BOOTH, John Edward of Port Dover, passed away at Norfolk General Hospital on Saturday January 11, 2025, in his 76th year.
Predeceased by his wife and best friend Christine (nee Pinchin) and parents Roger and Wyn Booth. Cherished brother of Mibsie Booth of London, ON. Cherished brother-in-law of Stuart & Sheila Pinchin of Kingston, ON and Elizabeth Pinchin of Kelowna, BC. John was loved and will be missed by his niece and nephews Ian, Ben, Kate, James and Tim. John also leaves behind cousins David Mitchell (Mimi) of Ottawa, ON and Cathy Mitchell Longpre (Michael) of Peterborough, ON, who are the children of the Reverend Clarence Mitchell (Joyce), formerly of Port Dover. John enjoyed a long and distinguished career at Bank of Montreal, taking leadership roles in nation-wide technology conversions and the Y2K project. John returned to his home town and roots when he and Christine retired to their custom-built dream home in Simcoe in 2007. They subsequently revised that dream and executed their new vision in Port Dover, where they lived very happily for the rest of their lives. John and Christine travelled widely during their work years at Bank of Montreal and in retirement. John's involvement at the Eva Brook Donly Museum & Archives in Simcoe, on the Silver Lake Revitalization project in Port Dover, and with the Port Dover Waterfront Preservation Association kept John busy in retirement. Treatment for John's mesothelioma, diagnosed in 2023, allowed him to enjoy good quality of life in his final months including trips to Kingston, Ontario and Kelowna, BC as recently as September. Thanks to Dr. Ellis and the staff at Juravinski Hospital for their skill and support. Arrangements have been entrusted to THOMPSON WATERS FUNERAL HOME 519-583-1530.
