Obituary of Ella Marie Brockbank
BROCKBANK, Ella Marie passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023 (born November 9, 1935), after a heroic battle with Breast Cancer. She was born in Prince Edward Island, also lived in Cape Breton but spent most of her adult life in Ontario. Predeceased by her late husband Douglas (2023), loving mother of John Parent of Pickering, stepmother to Christopher (Brenda) of Mississauga, Scot (Nancy Norton) of Port Dover and Mother-in-Law to Joeanne Parent of Barrie. Very Proud Grandma to Michael, Adam, Hunter, Hayden, Jenna, Sadie and Mrs. “G” to Iyla and Ellsa Norton. Predeceased by her parents Harold and Jennie Campbell, son Mark Parent (1995), brother Ralph Campbell (1996), Grandson Nathan Parent (1990). She will be dearly missed by her sister Doris (Betty) Mac Mullin of Cape Breton, brother Ed Campbell and sister-in law Dianne of London, and in-laws Murray and Priscilla Barker of Paris. She will be remembered by thirteen nephews and nieces. Ella was employed by TD Bank for 25 years and held many senior management positions prior to her retirement in 1992. Once retired Ella moved with Doug to Paris (Doug’s hometown) and built their own home. While in Paris she was a volunteer at the Willett Hospital, an active member of the Horticultural Society and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In 2005 they moved to Port Dover where she and Doug volunteered for the Food Bank, delivered Meals on Wheels and were charter members of the Probus Club. Ella was also a member of St Cecelia’s CWL. Ella and Doug loved to cruise, and most winters were spent travelling around the world. A highlight or Ella’s life was entertaining and spending time with family. The love and care provided by Stedman Community Hospice brought comfort and peace to Ella in her final months, and the family will be forever grateful. The family welcomes you to join them for a Catholic Mass at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church on Saturday November 18, 2023 at 1:00pm.
